Professional Distinction for Landscape Designers
The APLD certification program provides professional distinction for landscape designers based on established standards of excellence. This designation allows designers to use the coveted post-nominal “CPLD” (Certified Professional of Landscape Design) after their name and in marketing materials. This is the only international certification program for landscape designers. Applications are open to professional landscape designers who have practiced for at least 2 years.
Our certification evaluates the candidate’s submitted work. It is not an educational curriculum. The candidate is evaluated on three installed projects and is required to provide drawings, plant lists, design intent statements, and photographs for each project.
To encourage our certified members to develop professionally, we require 30 hours of continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain certification.
The APLD Certification Review Panel convenes two times each year to review applications for Certified Professional Membership. The current review schedule is in February and September. Applications are due by the first of the month.
