On May 17, 2023, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., a unique opportunity for Landscape Designers to learn about the California Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO) is being offered. Best of all, it’s FREE to APLD CA Members, thanks to the generous support of our Sponsors.

This virtual (ZOOM) training will be taught by one of the best of the best—Kim O’Cain, of O’Cain Consulting, Inc., author of the Department of Water Resources (DWR) MWELO Guidebook.

In addition to the training, Kim will lead an interactive discussion for members to share their tips for success and challenges working with plan reviewers, clients, and others involved in your projects.

Whether you have experience developing MWELO-compliant plans or not, there’s always more to learn. Ours is a dynamic profession and, as APLD members, we actively participate in continuing education that strengthens our creativity, knowledge, and skills.

It’s vital that we remain abreast of California legislation that may support and impact us as practitioners. The MWELO is adopted, and possibly updated, every three years. Its intent, in part, is to promote the conservation and efficient use of water, while conserving biodiversity and increasing climate resiliency. Understanding MWELO and using these best practices will bolster your business and elevate the services you offer your clients.
